About us

We make farm management, planning and forecasting tools that power Kiwi farmers.

What do FarmIQ and FARMAX do?

FarmIQ is a map-based farm management platform used by thousands of Kiwi farmers to get a bird’s-eye view of their operation, improve performance, and get all their ducks in a row when it comes to compliance.

FARMAX is a modelling and decision support tool, which allows users to build a digital twin of their whole farm system and use this model to record actual farm performance data, forecast future expectations and create unlimited scenarios.

Our origin story

FARMAX

Commercially launched in 2003, FARMAX was developed by AgResearch and was born out of 20 years of research. It is an evidence-based software system developed for the industry, by agricultural experts.

The FARMAX Engine®, which drives all our products, gives farmers a truly unique advantage, because it accurately models the complex biological system that is their own pastoral farm. It creates a digital ‘twin’ of the farm business.

FarmIQ

Founded in 2010, FarmIQ was created in a Primary Growth Partnership (PGP) between government and the industry. The original project goal was to improve red meat value chain efficiency by allowing information to flow freely between farmers, processors and retailers.

In 2017 the PGP ended and FarmIQ became a fully incorporated New Zealand business, joined by a group of passionate industry shareholders.

Better Together

The FARMAX and FarmIQ tools have had an integration for well over a decade, but in 2021 that partnership went one step further when FarmIQ Systems acquired FARMAX.

Together, FarmIQ and FARMAX provide the most complete farm management system solutions with both recording and predictive modelling functionality.

Our mission

We’re extremely passionate about our farmers’ intergenerational success and the New Zealand pastoral sector as a whole. Our mission is for our products to be the recording and modelling platforms of choice for New Zealand farmers by enabling them to make productive, profitable and sustainable decisions.

Our vision

Optimised farms that balance profit, production and sustainability are at the core of our vision, as we power pastoral farming success today and in the future.

With a depth of experience across all relevant business disciplines, this team is leading FarmIQ and FARMAX towards a strong and sustainable future.
